When choosing your keywords prior to build your money sites, it is necessary to observe the following:

You want to keep the number of competing sites for the keyword phrase under 100 000
You want to keep the number of competing sites with the phrase keyword in the title under 10 000
Avoid keywords with amazon, youtube or similar authority sites pages in the top 3
Avoid keywords with keywords rich domains in the top 3. For example, If your keyword is “dog food” and if you have a domain like dogfood.com
on the first page, then you must understand that a you might need lot of backlinks to beat it.

How to Find the html Color Code of a Website Page

How many times are you wondering what the color code of an element of your (or someone else) blog/website is?

I know I often need to find out this information when adding Adsense on my sites. Indeed, it is always better to match your adsense ads border with the font of your theme. And because I am somewhat color blind it was a pain the neck to get the information in the html code of my site.

Introducing Colorzilla, a firefox plugin that will give you a little eyedropper in the status bar of your browser. When you’re on a page where you need to guess the html color code, just click on the icon and it will give you a little crosshair that you can point on any part of the site and there you go: the html color code of the part you clicked on will appear in the status bar.

Very neat and did I mention it is FREE!!

How to Share your Files the Easy Way

If like me, you are working with different computers all the time, then I strongly recommend you to check Box.net.

This website is a tool that allow you to upload your files and folders to their servers in an easy and very user-friendly way so that you can access them from anywhere. You can share permissions with as many people as you want as well.

So In short, just have a look at their website, it says it all. Best of all it’s free. You could always upgrade for more space and tools but frankly speaking the free version is enough for me.

Get a Favicon for Your Blog

What is a Favicon?

Do you see the Letter E inside your browser in front of the URL of my blog? Well, this is a Favicon.

A favicon is a little 16×16 image displayed inside the browser location’s bar as well as the bookmark menu. It allows your reader to identify your site easily in the middle of all of their bookmarks. It is kind of like a branding for your blog.

How to Create a Favicon?

There are a couple of websites out there that can create a favicon for you instantly and for FREE. I personally use this one here.

You just need to chose a picture or image that you have and upload it on the website and they will create fhe favicon. You then just need to download it to your computer.

How To use a Favicon?

Once you have your nice little favicon, you will need to upload it to your server (usually the public_html folder). To check if you did it right, type http://yourdomainname.com/favicon.ico and it should appear in your browser.

Afterwards you have to insert the following code in the HEAD section of your page or in your header.php page if you’re using a WordPress theme between the tag:

Save your changes and it should be all set. Refresh your website page couple of times and it should appear after a while.

Using “Best Sellers” & “Hot Items” List

When promoting a website, it is a good idea to send your traffic to the products on the “Hot Items” List of the website.

Most of the time those are clearly stated on the Homepage. For the websites who don’t, do not hesitate to contact them directly and ask them for this list and what the products that convert the best are. More often than not, they will give you this information gladly.

Problems registering with some Affiliate Platforms?

I recently tried to register to ShareaSale and got denied. I was surprised as most of the people I knew had absolutely no problem registering with them. And then it hit me: currently living in China maybe my chinese ip was the reason behind this problem.

So I used an anonymous web proxy: Hypercloak and bingo my application process went through.

So here you have it, if like me you are living in China or some other “desira non grata” countries, use a proxy to register to your favorite programs.
